Beverly Hills Residence

The Propagator

LARC designers were excited to be challenged by an innovative client to envision a way that nutritious, organic, and locally grown food can provide a centerpiece for urban community.

A House in Little Italy

A series of interlocking rooms are designed to echo memories of traditional European architectural relationships between areas for cooking, dining, play, and sleeping in a home for a Chicago family with roots in Italy, Spain, and England.

St. Helena Residence

A home in the wine country created from three existing buildings sited between vineyards and mountains. Simple materials, light colors, and restrained palettes allow the view in and through the house to dominate the conversation.

A Space to Gather

A classic apartment is opened up with a calm kitchen. A cool gray palette is accented with handmade tiles that reflect light around a large, central island.

Classic Courtyard

A classic courtyard apartment building gets a new look with a contrasting color scheme.

Venice Cafe

LARC were asked to assist an all-things-espresso brand transform its stylish coffee truck aesthetic into a bricks and mortar cafe on a busy Venice street.

Santa Monica Coffee & Wine Bar

LARC were asked to create a space that would work as a daytime coffee house, evening wine bar, and all-day gathering spot. Japanese coffee culture was a key influence for the chef’s menu, selection of materials, and detailing.

Urban Workout

A ground floor London retail space was transformed into a calm workout space while addressing a complex entry sequence.

Beach Workout

Working with a global client focused on providing a full-body experience in a calming space. A former office suite was transformed into a simple studio in the heart of a beach community.

A Kitchen with Color

This efficient sunny kitchen became bigger and brighter when we lifted the ceiling and removed interior partitions. A calming almond color is punctuated by bright pops of color that create cheer on foggy mountain mornings and reflect the Southern California warmth. Custom cabinets along the inside wall allow for an open and low cooking and prep area.

F45

LARC staff Leslie Thomas and Greg Doench have curated and designed many exhibitions and projections either with ART WORKS Projects, the United Nations, or independently. Include in this list are The Children of Syria, DARFUR/DARFUR, Women Between Peace and War: Afghanistan, Transitions, BLOOD/STONES Burmese Rubies, Congo/Women, Sanctuary/Sustenance, and others. Witness to War: Children of Syria

LARC partner Leslie Thomas is honored to be collaborating with co-editor Amy Yenkin and designer Giorgio Baravalle in supporting Syrian photographer Bassam Khabieh’s long-term commitment to documenting the impact of the war in his home country on children. LARC principals Doench & Thomas first worked with Khabieh when designing the ART WORKS Project’s exhibition Children of Syria and are committed to advocating for their needs throughout the tragic conflict they have endured. We invite you to become a partner in this effort by contributing to the upcoming Kickstarter initiative.

Work in Progress: Ending Female Genital Mutilation

LARC is honored to have recently been asked to work with UN partners on a new exhibition designed to celebrate global achievements in the fight to end female genital mutilation. This rights abuse impacts millions of girls and young women around the world. Thankfully, there are individuals and communities globally working together to effectively end this practice for good.

With this and all of our exhibition design work, the process is one of collaboration and iteration. Team members include photographer Luca Zordan, designer Giorgio Baravalle/de.MO, and our clients.
